Beckham: I feel 'home' at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham insists he feels "at home" in Ligue 1 after he turned in a sparkling full debut during Wednesday night's Coupe de France 2-0 win against Marseille.

Beckham won lavish praise from all observers as he anchored the PSG midfield in a cup tie that exploded in the second half, with compatriot Joey Barton clashing with the former England captain in an incident that sparked a mass confrontation of players from both sides.

The 37-year-old was also shown a yellow card for a late clash with Marseille's Andre Ayew at the Parc des Princes.

Beckham declared himself satisfied with his first extended run-out in PSG colours following his cameo appearance in the league game against Marseille last weekend, but he admitted he had work to do before he was fully up to speed physically.

"It's always good to start a match," he told RMC. "It was a pleasure. I feel at home, I'm playing with super players in a super team. I felt good, but I cannot always play 85 minutes immediately."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored both of PSG's goals in a tie that saw Beckham play for 86 minutes and while he was showing signs of fatigue in the closing stages of the match, he was handed platitudes aplenty from new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

"You said we signed him only to take pictures, to set news conference and sell shirts," Ancelotti said to reporters in sarcastically after the game. "It's up to you to judge. You are the experts who know soccer.

"I felt he gave a very good performance. He made good passes as usual, he was well positioned on the pitch alongside Blaise Matuidi. He was very solid. He showed that he can play and he did not look like he was 37-years-old. He can bring a lot of things, his passing skills, his experience, his desire."

Beckham will now push for a start in Saturday's Ligue 1 game against Stade de Reims, as he stakes his claim to play a role in next week's Champions League clash with Valencia.
