Everton confident of Fellaini return

Everton are confident Marouane Fellaini will be fit for their FA Cup quarter-final against Wigan after he missed the fifth round replay victory over Oldham.

• Baines sets sights on final

Fellaini, 25, sat out the 3-1 win with a knee problem but could return for Saturday's Premier League game against Reading.

If he fails to be passed fit for the Reading clash, Everton's top scorer is set to face Roberto Martinez's side at Goodison Park on March 9.

"He has got a good chance for the weekend and he will definitely be fit for Wigan," assistant manager Steve Round said.

Nikica Jelavic's goal drought was extended to nine games but Round had words of support for the Croatian striker, saying: "His work ethic is excellent. He just needs a goal."

Round said that a trip to Wembley, which Everton will secure if they beat Wigan, would provide a welcome boost for the club.

"It's something everyone looks forward to at Everton: the manager, the players, the supporters," he said. "It is where we want to go."

Everton's hopes of a top-four finish have faded but Round hopes they can challenge on two fronts. He said: "It keeps your season going. We have also got the league and we are not giving up on that. We have got to play a lot of teams around us and that will be interesting. We want to go at it twofold."

Kevin Mirallas, Leighton Baines and Leon Osman scored in the 3-1 victory but Round praised League One side Oldham.

"I thought Oldham put a right shift in and pushed us all the way," he said. "They were a credit to the manager and themselves. We matched them for the attitude and then your quality comes through at the end.

Oldham caretaker manager Tony Philliskirk echoed Round's praise.

"I am very proud of the boys," he said. "They represented the club in the right way."
