Montpellier defender Cyril Jeunechamp has had his year-long ban from football reduced to six months, with a further six months suspended.
Jeunechamp was given the ban for punching a journalist in the face after a 1-1 draw with Valenciennes on November 17, regarding a story published in L'Equipe ahead of the game.
The 37-year-old's ban was reduced after an appeal from the player through the French Football Federation's Appeal Commission.
The French champions had apologised to the reporter and condemned their player's behaviour, but announced the news on their website on Tuesday.
Jeunechamp will now be available for the final round of fixtures in Ligue 1 on May 26.
The defender signed for Montpellier from Nice in June 2009 and has made 59 appearances for the club, 12 of which came in their 2011-12 title-winning season.
