No Leeds move imminent, says Pearson

Former Leeds United director Adam Pearson has distanced himself from a takeover of the Championship club due to his commitments to rugby league.

Pearson, 49, owns Super League side Hull but recently admitted he was keen to return to football and that Leeds was his preferred club.

Last month Pearson said in an interview: "I will definitely get back into football. I would like to go in with a consortium with a club that has huge potential. The one that stands out is Leeds United."

However, Leeds' new owners GFH Capital, who only purchased the club on December 21, rejected a bid from a consortium just days after Pearson's interview, with the Hull owner believed to be part of the bid.

GFH Capital announced on taking over the club they were open to investment from the right partners, with Pearson thought to be someone looking to get involved.

Despite multiple links to bids for Leeds, Pearson told Hull FC Live on Tuesday morning that he was committed to the project at the rugby league club.

He said: "Hull FC is mine. I own the club, it is my baby and I want to grow and develop it. Football is my business and I'll always get rumours and connections in football as that is my industry."

"Leeds is a club I live close to and I've worked there before but at this minute in time, it is not for me. There will be no movement to Elland Road in the near future."

He continued: "My focus is completely on Hull FC and my other business interests. There will be no movement to Elland Road in the near future. This is my complete focus and so I'd like to squash those rumours once and for all."
