Toure: We can't give up title race

Yaya Toure has refused to admit defeat in the title race, saying Manchester City cannot give up in their pursuit of leaders Manchester United.

City are 12 points behind their neighbours after a 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday, in which Toure scored the opening goal, but have only 11 games to go.

The midfielder has urged the defending champions to keep fighting, arguing that they have to win every game to put their local rivals under pressure.

"We have to keep on going and try and win all our games, because we know United are in the top spot," he told City's official website.

"We have to keep on going because we have 11 games remaining, and in sport you never know what can happen in the future. You can't say it is finished. For the football club and the fans, you can't give up now."

Toure believes City have a more difficult fixture list than United over the remainder of the season, but said he had been heartened by the display against Chelsea.

He described Joe Hart's penalty save from Frank Lampard as "the key moment of the game" and was delighted by the resolve shown in defence and midfield.

He added: "The three midfielders, [James] Milner and [Javi] Garcia and [Jack] Rodwell and the defence, my brother, Kolo and [Matija] Nastasic and Joe Hart did a great job to keep a clean sheet."
