Fernandes optimistic about QPR future

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is hopeful of manager Harry Redknapp remaining in charge of the club if they are relegated from the Premier League.

He also promised fans that he will "stay and fix" the club as they struggle to fight against relegation from the Premier League.

A 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday has left Rangers seven points adrift of safety with 11 games remaining but Fernandes continues to put a brave face on the situation.

"I am optimistic as ever," he wrote on Twitter. "I'm still smiling. Its the next 8 games. Lots of good things." Before adding: "Good chat with Harry on the future come what may. We know what we have to do. Many points to play for."

Asked by a supporter whether Redknapp would also stay, whatever happens to the team at the end of the campaign, Fernandes replied: "I'm sure he will."

Fernandes has also repeatedly outlined his own intentions to stay involved with QPR, something he again spoke about on the social networking website.

"I will. I'm responsible for this mess ultimately. I have heard the fans and I will stay and fix it. I really love QPR. We can sort this out," he wrote. "Not sure how many times I can pledge. Hahaha. But I'm pledging. Aint going anywhere as long as the fans want me."
