Duff signs new contract with Fulham

Fulham midfielder Damien Duff has signed a one-year contract extension until the summer of 2014, the club have confirmed.

Duff, 33, has agreed to extend his stay at Craven Cottage as the club have 11 players who are due to come out of contract at the end of the season.

Fulham have tied down Duff amid some concern they could lose a number of players in the summer and the Irishman was delighted.

"I've loved my time at Fulham since I joined the Club more than three years ago, so I'm really happy that I am going to stay here for a further year," he told the official website.

"With 12 matches remaining this season, a top 10 finish is still possible and would represent another good season for the Club as we aim to play in the Premier League for a 13th consecutive campaign.

"I will always give 100% for the Chairman and the Club, and I look forward to another season playing at Craven Cottage, which really is a special ground."

Veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer could, however, soon join him in staying at the club after revealing earlier this month that he has begun talks over a new deal.

Boss Martin Jol has previously also stated his desire to pin down on-loan defender Sascha Riether to a permanent deal.

Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
