Stramaccioni not fazed by scrutiny

Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni has fended off suggestions his time with the Nerazzurri could be nearing an end, insisting he has welcomed the pressure of leading the Italian giants.

Inter's 4-1 loss at the hands of Fiorentina on the weekend placed greater scrutiny on Stramaccioni's job and the Italian was quick to defer personal questions ahead of his side's Europa League last-32 second leg tie against Cluj on Friday.

"The good and bad thing about being coach of Inter has been that this pressure has been on me from the first day I took charge of this great team," Stramaccioni said.

"If a coach at this level thinks about these things, then he is finished before he even begins. There is a lot of pressure, as we lost 4-1 on Sunday and it's only normal to be criticised, but I think we will do well both tomorrow (against Cluj and in the derby (against Milan on Sunday)."

Stramaccioni's men are all but assured of progression as they take a 2-0 advantage to Romania, giving the manager a brief reprieve.

But Inter could be forced to rest a number of their players as Stramaccioni eyes a derby win over Milan this weekend which could see them leap their cross-city rivals into third place.

"I think Inter have to take it one game at a time," he continued. "We played the first leg against Cluj with our best team and paid the price for that with our lack of energy against Fiorentina.

"Our objective is to progress to the next round. It won't be easy and it certainly is not a foregone conclusion."
