Brazilian defender Xandao has signed with Russian Premier League side FC Kuban.
The 24-year-old signed a three-and-a-half and will join the Russian side from Sporting Lisbon, where he had been on loan from Brazilian side Desportivo Brasil.
Xandao scored one goal in 22 appearances for the Portuguese side this season, but the club decided against buying the player outright for €3 million.
However, Sporting’s loss has been Kuban’s gain.
“Playing for Sporting, Xandao was in leading roles in the Portuguese league,” Kuban sporting director Sergei Doronchenko said on the team’s website.
“He has experience in European competitions, last year the Portuguese club reached the Europa League semi-finals. That’s why I have no doubts that Xandao will really strengthen our team and help us at the decisive spring part of the championship.”
Xandao is incoming Kuban coach Leonid Kuchuk’s first permanent signing.
