Anderson: I am happy at Man Utd

Anderson has insisted he wants to stay at Manchester United but admitted that it is not easy to play for the Premier League leaders.

The midfielder denied stories in the Brazilian press that he was looking to leave Old Trafford and said going anywhere else apart from Barcelona or Real Madrid would be a downward step.

The 24-year-old said he loves playing for United and pointed to the medals he has won over the past six seasons as a reason to remain in Manchester.

"Everyone knows I am happy at the club," he said. "I don't have any issues. When I want to leave, I will have to talk to the boss first.

"The only places you could go to from here are Real Madrid and Barcelona. You can't have another choice. The level at Manchester United is so big and so massive.

"You come here and you are definitely going to win titles. I have won the Premier League three times. I have won the Champions League once and lost two finals. I have always been there."

Anderson believes he has achieved a lot by playing a part for United over the past six years, whereas previous South Americans - including World Cup winner Kleberson and £28 million signing Juan Sebastian Veron - have failed.

He added: "I came to Manchester United as a Brazilian and I have been here six years.

"I love it here, but it is hard. It is hard because there are 25 players here who can play for any team in the world.

"It is not easy to play for Manchester United. A lot of top players came here and couldn't do it – Veron, some big players. Kleberson came here and didn't play. I have stayed."

But Anderson said he had been frustrated by the injuries that have impeded his progress at United.

He was signed from Porto as a teenager for a reported £18 million, and his debut season was arguably his best, seeing him make 38 appearances and come off the bench to score a penalty in the Champions League final shoot-out win over Chelsea.

He added: "I came here when I was very young. It was hard. But in my first year I did very well. In the second, I played some games and missed some, [since] then I have had big injuries. But I have always been here when the boys have needed me."
