Muller impatient for UCL glory

Bayern Munich winger Thomas Muller has said he wants to win the Champions League as soon as possible after having already lost in finals against Chelsea and Inter Milan.

Muller, 23, scored the goal that had seemed set to win his side the trophy when they played Chelsea on home territory in last season's final, only for Didier Drogba to rescue the match and then score the decisive shoot-out penalty.

The Germany international has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 14 goals and setting up 12 more in his 28 competitive games for Bayern.

And speaking as his side prepare to take on Arsenal at the Emirates in the Champions League on Tuesday, he told kicker: "I want to win that thing as soon as possible.

"Thus our target is to return to London one more time [for the final at Wembley] this season. We are in great shape, and we are not afraid of Arsenal. We strive for the maximum in all competitions.

"Arsenal have quality in attack, but they should suit us as they will not park the bus. We have a lot of self-confidence."

That self-confidence could take Bayern back to the capital for the final in May, Muller said, because they had no fear of any opponent.

"There is not a single team in Europe of which we say: 'Wow, they are big guns,' he explained.

"We don't need to hide, and we know we can make it to the final. Admittedly, Barcelona are capable of playing extraordinary football and, in England, Manchester United show consistency.

"Barcelona have been working with the same structure for years. They are well-tuned. But this growing understanding also applies to us."

Bavarian-born Muller, who recently extended his Bayern contract until 2017, said he wanted to stay with the club. "I see an extremely good future here," he added. "I don't have any plans to leave."
