Aguero wants City to build on Leeds win
Sergio Aguero believes Manchester City have restored calm to the camp with the 4-0 FA Cup demolition of Leeds on Sunday.
City resume their Premier League campaign against Chelsea on Sunday with the Argentina international hoping they are now back on track after the 3-1 defeat at Southampton, which left manager Roberto Mancini furious and led to speculation about his future.
The thrashing of Leeds sets up a home quarter-final against Barnsley, and Aguero wants the victory to inspire City to mount a two-pronged challenge for silverware in the remainder of the season.
"Now we will have a bit of calm and can concentrate on the Chelsea game," Aguero told the club's official website. "It will be a good match, difficult, but obviously we need to go out and win. We need to continue like this."
City are 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United and could be 15 adrift by the time they kick off against Rafa Benitez's side.
But Aguero, who scored the goal that secured the club the title last season, wants the side to win each of their remaining games in a bid to retain their championship.
"I think against Southampton none of us played well and it was a bad day for us all - an error which we hope not to repeat," he said. "We will try not to lose any more points in the league so we can keep all three points."
Aguero, who was a Europa League winner in his time at Atletico Madrid, believes City are more than capable of lifting the FA Cup this season.
"I really like this cup, played as a single leg. I think we have a team that can reach the final," he said.
The City striker took his goal tally for the season to 13 with a brace against Leeds, but took greater satisfaction in the team's victory.
"They were two good goals but the most important thing was they helped us to win," he said. "The truth is we played a great game and we hope we can continue to do so constantly."
