Rose uncertain over Spurs future

Sunderland's on-loan Tottenham full-back Danny Rose has said he is not sure what will happen about his future at White Hart Lane amid interest from Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill in making the move permanent.

Rose, 22, has been in outstanding form for Sunderland since joining on loan in the summer, but Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas described a full-time switch as "impossible" when the Londoners visited the Stadium of Light in December.

But the defender has suggested he would be interested in a switch to Wearside, telling the Journal: "It's the first time in a long time I have not wanted the season to finish. It's just a shame there's only three months left - I don't know what will happen after that.

"For the last couple of seasons, it has been very hard for me at Spurs. I have not been playing as much as I want. This is the first time I have actually been given a chance to play week in, week out.

"We played Spurs on December 29, and I spoke to the manager then. I told him I wanted to know what was happening. He said it would be better for my development to play here for a full season."

Rose said he was "at an age now where I want to play every week", adding: "I am just grateful that Martin O'Neill has brought me here, trusted me and put me straight into the team against Liverpool in September. I have not looked back since."

In addition to securing a consistent place for England's Under-21s, Rose said he has relished the challenge of being a regular Premier League starter.

"I am grateful that I have had my chance and done well," he explained. "I have enjoyed my football."
