Ibrahimovic: I have made my choice

De Gea enjoying United life

David de Gea said he is "very happy" at Manchester United after putting in a man-of-the-match display in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.

• Brewin: Unsung heroes in Madrid
• Hunter: De Gea's masterclass
• Delaney: United building from back
• Okwonga: De Gea adds maturity to flair

De Gea, 22, has taken time to prove himself in England since his big-money move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, and there has been speculation that he could leave Old Trafford in the summer.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson said this week that he believes De Gea has now come through the difficult adaptation period, and the goalkeeper put in perhaps his finest performance for United to date as he produced a string of exceptional saves at the Bernabeu.

Speaking to reporters after the game, he said: "I am very happy in Manchester. Every day I am happier."

De Gea added the match at the Bernabeu was "great" and was pleased to restrict the hosts to one goal.

"Real Madrid and Manchester United did very well," he said. "[Madrid] have a very strong attack, so we needed to be strong in defence."

United would appear to have a slight advantage going into the second leg having claimed an away goal, but De Gea knows there is plenty more work to do.

"Real Madrid will attack at Old Trafford," he said. "They know they have to win to advance and we will do our best to stop them."
