Ibrahimovic could face extra ban

UEFA's disciplinary panel will meet at the end of the February to decide whether PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic should be banned for an extra game.

• Blog: PSG do it the hard way
• Blog: Valencia barely still in tie

Ibrahimovic was given his marching orders in the final few minutes of the French side's 2-1 win over Valencia on Tuesday night for a tackle on Andres Guardado.

The Swede appeared to go over the ball and stamp on the Valencia midfielder's foot and could face an additional suspension if UEFA's panel decides the challenge was "assaulting another player".

The panel will meet on February 27 and Ibrahimovic could be banned from the first-leg of PSG's quarter-final, if they beat Valencia, or if not his next European game from next season.

In the Champions League a red card is an automatic one-match ban with any additional games purely at the discretion of UEFA's disciplinary panel.
