Bentley joins Blackburn on loan

Blackburn have signed former England international David Bentley from Tottenham until the end of the season.

David Bentley has moved on loan again from Tottenham
Bentlety's career at Tottenham has failed to take off

Bentley, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Russian club FC Rostov, was a reported target of QPR at the end of the transfer window. The 28-year-old left Blackburn for White Hart Lane in 2008 in a £17 million deal after making his name at Ewood Park, scoring 20 goals in 132 games after joining from Arsenal.

But his career has stalled since then and Bentley has not played for Tottenham since November 2010. He has since been borrowed by West Ham, Birmingham and Rostov and is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.

A statement on the Blackburn website read: "On a busy day of transfer activity, manager Michael Appleton has made it a double deal with the signing of former fans' favourite David Bentley. Following the arrival of defender Karim Rekik from Manchester City, Bentley returns to Rovers on loan from Tottenham Hotspur."
