Lambert wants to stay a Saint for life
In-form Southampton striker Rickie Lambert wants to stay at the club for the rest of his career.
Lambert is in a rich vein of form at present, with five goals in his last nine games and two assists in the fine victory over defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 30-year-old signed for the Saints from Bristol Rovers in 2009 and played a prominent role as the club rose from League One to the top flight.
Lambert, who has scored 99 goals for the club, is the highest English scorer in the Premier League this season, leading to reported interest from others.
But Lambert is adamant he wants to finish his playing days on the south coast. "My family are happy here and I am very happy,'' Lambert told the Sun.
"It has been a special three and a half years and I would love to finish my career at Southampton.
"The club's ambitions are very high. Southampton is going to be an exciting place over the next few years.''
