Ancelotti: PSG ready for Valencia

PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti is confident his side is 'mentally and physically' prepared for the challenge of next week's Champions League opponents Valencia after dismissing Ligue 1 rivals Bastia 3-1 at the Parc des Princes.

Ancelotti was delighted as his charges took control of the game with three second half strikes, moving the club six points clear at the top of the table.

However, the 53-year-old was more satisfied the result allowed his players to ready themselves for the upcoming battle against Valencia in the hostile environment of the Mestalla.

"We can go into the next match in the Champions League with confidence," Ancelotti told France Football. "It's good preparation because the players have recuperated and we have the time to prepare mentally and physically."

The victory was even more impressive as the former AC Milan coach started the match with star players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi on the bench, although both were required to score PSG's final two goals.

"It was not difficult to convince Ibra to start from the bench. He understood why just as (Blaise) Matuidi and (Mamadou) Sakho did. There is always a risk of injury and the idea was to avoid it," Ancelotti said.

In further good news, newly acquired star-man David Beckham's awaited debut could come sooner than Ancelotti expected, with the former LA Galaxy player now in line for a possible appearance against Sochaux after impressing club officials with his fitness levels.
