Terry ruled out of Wigan game

Rafael Benitez has revealed that Chelsea captain John Terry is out of action for this weekend's game with Wigan as he has suffered an inflamed knee.

Terry has only just recovered from a knee injury which was caused when he slipped and crashed into Liverpool's Luis Suarez on November 11. After missing the Club World Cup, Terry returned to action on January 12, but has now suffered an inflamation which will keep him out for the weekend.

"I'm really pleased with the medical department and staff because they're doing a great job," he told a press conference. "We just have Oriol Romeu, a long-term injury, and John Terry has an inflammation with his knee. A set-back, but not serious. He will not be available tomorrow. Petr Cech and even Demba Ba should be available."

Ba was forced out of Saturday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United after suffering a broken nose in a challenge with Fabricio Coloccini. He has been forced to wear a protective mask to train, and could well play in it too.

"He had to go there (to Milan)," Benitez said. "He trained yesterday and today with the mask, and he's fine. Afterwards we have to make a decision.

"We have to rotate. It's not that I want to do that. It's to do with the tactics and playing the three behind them. Demba can't play in the Europa League, too. We can play both sometimes, but it'll be difficult with the players behind. It depends on the game."

Good news for Benitez came as David Luiz returned from injury, while Eden Hazard has completed his three-match ban for kicking out at a ballboy in the Blues' Capital One Cup defeat to Swansea.

"The positive news today, apart from the international break, is that we have David Luiz and Hazard coming back," he added. "We have two more bodies, and that's really important. [John Obi] Mikel and [Victor] Moses are still at the African Cup of Nations, in the final, but I'm pleased to have more players and more options."
