Arson attack damages Beitar offices

Offices belonging to Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem have been badly damaged in what police have said was an arson attack.

The blaze at the club's administrative offices, near the training ground, happened a day after four fans were charged with chanting anti-Muslim slogans at a recent game.

Reuters reported Jerusalem police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld as saying that nobody had been injured in the fire, and that officers were looking for suspects in connection with the incident.

Sections of the Beitar support are known for their hostility to Muslims and Arabs, and police in Jerusalem have announced plans to use undercover officers at games in an attempt to track down fans involved in racist chanting.

Chants at a recent match targeted two recently-signed Chechen Muslim players.
