UEFA reduces final prices by 25%

UEFA has confirmed it has reduced ticket prices for the 2013 Champions League final at Wembley after coming under fierce criticism for their pricing policy when the stadium last hosted the event in 2011.

President Michel Platini admitted at the time that the pricing was a mistake and that UEFA would listen to the concerns of supporters and look again at cost of tickets.

When Manchester United played Barcelona two years ago the cheapest ticket was £80 for supporters of the clubs in the final, though the lowest for neutral spectators who purchased tickets through UEFA's ballot was £150. Those prices were further inflated by a £26 "administration fee" per ticket.

The pricing structure for 2013 includes 16,800 "category four" tickets priced at £60, a reduction of 25%. The "administration fee" for tickets bought in the UK has been slashed to £8, meaning a cut of 35% on the total cost from 2011.

Of the 86,000 capacity, 59,000 tickets will be available to fans with each of the finalists receiving 25,000 and 9,000 being sold via uefa.com.

The remainder of the tickets will be at higher price categories ranging from £140 to £330. The other 27,000 tickets not on sale will be distributed to European associations, sponsors and media.
