Saha relishing Lazio opportunity

Louis Saha was presented as a Lazio player on Wednesday evening, joining the Italian club as a free agent following the termination of his contract with Sunderland.

The Paris-born 34-year-old has spent almost his entire career in England, representing six different Premier League teams since moving to Newcastle back in 1999.

"I am very happy to be here at this big club," he said at a press conference at Lazio's training ground.

"I have found a great group and working with them will be a real pleasure for me. I want to give my best. I am here to help the team during this injury (to Miroslav Klose) and I'm happy to do it. I know on Saturday it will be a big game against Napoli and I am here to help.

"In life you must always try to give your best. I am a very competitive person, so the important thing is to always do better. This is a great team and a great country. I am happy to be here."

Saha, who will wear the No. 28 shirt, was flanked at his unveiling by Lazio president Claudio Lotito and Vladimir Petkovic who denied that the former Manchester United man is merely a stop-gap replacement for Klose.

The Germany international is expected to miss up to two months of action due to a knee injury but Petkovic expects his newest recruit to help beyond that time.

"Saha is not just a replacement for Klose," said the coach. "When the German returns, we will have more options available to us. His arrival makes us even more competitive."

"He is a person who can give a great contribution to this club," added Lotito. "His history speaks for him and he has come to Lazio with great motivation. He can help us reach our objectives as we deal with a few injuries."
