Luiz: Brazil will win the World Cup

David Luiz has announced Brazil 'will win' the next World Cup despite the Samba nation's 2-1 loss to England at Wembley Stadium.

England stole the show against its more fancied opponents, Wayne Rooney opening the scoring in the first half before a Gary Cahill mistake allowed Fred to equalise.

However, a 60th minute Frank Lampard strike roared the Three Lions to a famous victory.

The result stands in stark contrast to comments made earlier in the week by Brazil striker Neymar, who doused hopes of English success at Brazil 2014 by claiming England was not one of the host nations 'main rivals for the World Cup'.

But Luiz refused to back down from his compatriots stance after the loss, strong in his belief Brazil would be writing its name in history when it wins a sixth World Cup on home soil.

"I want to win the World Cup next year and I know Brazil. We will win," Luiz told FIFA.com

"(Against England) was a great night against a big team but we are not happy with the result. We need to take the positives out of every game."

The Chelsea defender – who started the match before being substituted in the second half – attributed the loss to England's unique style of play and the visitor's lack of squad strength.

"Tonight was a good game against a side which is physically different to us," he said. "We had probably 40 per cent of our players who are just starting with us now so it's different."
