Wenger compares Ramsey to Lampard

Osieck: Neill must find a club

Socceroos boss Holger Osieck has warned Lucas Neill that his international future is in jeopardy if the defender fails to resolve his club issues soon.

Neill, 34, is still contracted with Al-Wasl, but the United Arab Emirates side have made their intention to offload him very clear.

Australia's captain has failed to spend more than a season at one club after leaving West Ham in 2009, having played for Everton, Galatasaray, Al Jazira and Al Wasl in the last four years.

According to Osieck, Neill faces a race against the clock to rescue his Socceroos career by finding a club, any club, before Asia's transfer window shuts on February 14.

"It's not a very positive development," Osieck said on Neill's situation with Al Wasl. "First and foremost, it affects himself, but down the road it's gonig to affect the national team as well.

"A player has to be in a regular playing rhythm, has to have a regular schedule and I hope he can resolve his situation pretty quickly. I would advise him to find a spot where he can play regularly. It doesn't matter where it is."

Neill has been linked with a move to A-League sides Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners, who both have Asians Champions League campaigns looming that could make him a valuable asset.

He will lead the Socceroos in Wednesday's friendly against Romania in Spain but will miss the World Cup qualifier clash with Oman in March through suspension and Osieck is hoping Neill can help his younger team-mates prepare for that match.

"The reason why Lucas is here, although he is not eligible for the Oman game, is that we had a couple of exits in central defence," Osieck said. "In order to build a new situation and a new group, you need to have some experience that you can build around and therefore I decided to bring him in.

"I think Romania offer a good challenge to us. I saw their squad list and they're bringing all their big names, so it will be good to see how our boys respond."
