Raul and Hierro visit Spain team

Spain have seen former captains Raul Gonzalez and Fernando Hierro visit them at their hotel in Qatar, ahead of the friendly with Uruguay.

• Preview: Spain v Uruguay

The Qatari government paid the Spanish football federation close to US$4 million to switch the match from Portugal to Doha and the two sides will clash at Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.

And the Spanish side were given a boost ahead of the game as Marca reported that Raul, who has been playing for Qatar's Al Sadd since last summer and Hierro, who played for Al-Rayyan in the 2003-04 season, arrived to greet them among a host of adoring fans.

Raul scored 44 goals in 102 games and is the second highest goalscorer in the history of the Spain team (behind David Villa), while Hierro, a penalty-taking former central defender, is the country's fourth highest scorer with 29 goals.
