Cagliari-Milan under threat
The Serie A match between Cagliari and Milan may not be played at the Rossoblu's Stadio Is Arenas due to safety concerns once again being expressed by the Cagliari city council.
A similar situation occurred in September, when authorities deemed the ground unsafe and the club could not find an alternate stadium in time. Roma were awarded a 3-0 win for that cancelled fixture, while Cagliari's 3-1 defeat to Juventus in December was played at Parma's Stadio Tardini.
"The conditions do not exist from a public ordinance or security perspective for the hosting of the Cagliari-Milan match at the Is Arenas di Quartu," read a statement from the Prefecture of Cagliari following a meeting to reevaluate the stadium on Monday.
Earlier in the day the Sardinian club announced it had installed video surveillance equipment as requested by the police, but the stadium was once again deemed unsafe for supporters to attend.
The match is now at risk of being cancelled completely should a viable alternative not be found in time.
Milan won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in September at San Siro, courtesy of two goals from Stephan El-Shaawary.
