Posh slam Forest over Boyd deal

Peterborough United midfielder George Boyd failed to complete a £600,000 move to Nottingham Forest due to a problem with his vision, his club's chairman announced.

Boyd, 27, opted for a move to the City Ground after rejecting the chance to move to Crystal Palace and began a medical at 10am on deadline day.

However, Forest apparently found an issue with the player's eyesight and attempted to force through a loan instead.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony hit out at Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi on Twitter over the affair, with the East Midlands club also having been linked with Posh manager Darren Ferguson after their Kuwaiti takeover in the summer.

MacAnthony wrote: “What is with NFFC messing around with my club.1st my manager, now after putting Boyd through a medical since 10am this morning, their owner has cxxx the deal at last minute when their manager wants him. Farcical & ridiculous.

“Apparently after playing 300 games in 6 and half years, his vision isn't 20/20 so no deal. Total disgrace the whole thing.”

Boyd spent time on loan with Forest under former manager Billy Davies two seasons ago and was cleared to move after Peterborough accepted an improved offer, after rejecting an initial bid of £250,000.
