Kuba: I could end my career at Dortmund

Poland international Jakub "Kuba" Blaszczykowski believes the best is yet to come from him at Borussia Dortmund, and says he would consider retiring at the club.

• Hamburg get Dortmund's Demirbay
• Dortmund concede Bundesliga title

Kuba, 27, has been in impressive form this season, scoring eight and setting up another five in 15 Bundesliga games. It represents a vast improvement for the winger, who had previously scored just 14 goals in 141 league games for Dortmund after moving to Germany in 2007.

In late 2011, the former Wisla Krakow star had been downgraded to a substitute and was considering leaving Dortmund, telling Polsat Sport a the time: "I am not satisfied the way I am used here. Some things have come to an end. If I don't get playing time, then I have to use my abilities at another club."

But just over a year later and he has become an integral member of Jurgen Klopp's side after taking advantage of Mario Gotze's extended injury absence.

"It was a difficult situation to mostly sit on the bench," Kuba said to kicker. "I scored a lot of goals for the national team, it was difficult in Dortmund. But sometimes it is like that. I was offered my chance and I took it."

And Kuba believes there is further improvement to come, saying: "2012 certainly was the best year in my career. But I will not spend a lot of time looking back. And I hope the best year in my career is yet to come.

"We have a better team than three or four years ago and have more possession of the ball. We have become more dominant as a team."

With his current contract running out in 2016, the winger did not rule out signing a new deal at Dortmund, adding: "That would be something - I'd have spent my entire career in Dortmund. There are not a lot of clubs like Borussia. And if things continue to be going nicely, why should I leave?"
