Mauro Zarate looks set to join Dynamo Kiev before the January transfer window closes after meeting the Ukrainian club on Wednesday.
An €8 million bid has been accepted for the 25-year-old former Birmingham City striker and the player seems to be convinced by their plans to overtake current champions Shakhtar Donetsk. His agent, who on Tuesday said it would be “hard to find a move” before the deadline passes, told a club radio show he was sure the deal would be completed.
“We spoke with the Dynamo president about 10 days ago,” Luis Rizzo told La Lazio Siamo Noi. “Mauro was immediately left fascinated by their project. We are talking about a permanent transfer.
“The boy is happy, he’s married the cause and there are no other alternatives for him - it’s either Lazio or Dynamo."
The Argentine has made just one appearance for the Rome based club this season after spending last term on loan at Inter Milan and has no place in coach Vladimir Petkovic’s plans.
