Fulham want Huddlestone, Stekelenburg

Fulham are in the hunt to sign Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone and Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

Tom Huddlestone's move to Stoke is in the balance
Fulham do not fancy their chances of signing Tom Huddlestone

Huddlestone, 26, has found game time hard to come by at White Hart Lane this season, playing second fiddle to the likes of Sandro and Mousa Dembele, while Lewis Holtby’s arrival has only pushed him further down the pecking order.

Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the former Derby man is in talks with the West London club, but is not sure how far the negotiations will progress.

“There was an interest from Fulham. I'm not sure if they're going to follow on that interest,” he said. "We've allowed the club to speak to the player. He's a player we rate very highly."

Fulham boss Martin Jol is not feeling too confident about sorting out a deal for Huddlestone by the end of Thursday.

"I think it is awful to get a permanent transfer for someone like Tom Huddlestone on the last day," he said. "I started five weeks ago and that won't happen on the last day."

Fulham are also keen to bring in Netherlands goalkeeper Stekelenburg.

The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Roma and his agent, Rob Jansen, is hopeful he will move to Craven Cottage.

"We are working very hard to secure a deal," Jansen told De Telegraaf.
