Lyon are expecting Schalke to firm up their interest in Michel Bastos with the Brazil international keen on a move to the German club.
Bastos, 29, is reported in the French media as already having agreed personal terms on a two-and-a-half year contract with Schalke. However, the Gelsenkirchen-based side are waiting for Tottenham to up their offer to €2 million to finalise Lewis Holtby's departure to north London before meeting Lyon's evaluation of €7 million for Bastos.
With Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt admitting the Holtby situation "should be cleared up at the start of the week", Lyon now expect to be hearing from the Bundesliga outfit in regards to Bastos, who is under contract with the seven-time Ligue 1 champions until 2015.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed last week he had been contacted by "an exotic club", which was confirmed as being Al Gharafa, the Qatari side who have brought in both Nene and Djibril Cisse during the January transfer window.
Though Aulas has accepted Al Gharafa's bid for Bastos, the player would prefer a move to Schalke, who face Galatasaray in the Champions League last 16 next month.
