St Etienne reject Aubameyang bids
St Etienne have announced that they have rejected all bids for Newcastle United target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang, 23, has been a key figure for Les Verts since joining the club from AC Milan in 2011 and recently helped them qualify for the Coupe de la Ligue final.
Newcastle have bid €10 million for the Gabon striker, according to L’Equipe, although RMC reported on Saturday that Queens Park Rangers had sought to gazump Alan Pardew’s side by offering €15 million.
However, Aubameyang has stated his desire to see out the season at his current club, with St Etienne confirming that all approaches have been spurned.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “After rumours about a possible departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Newcastle published today in several media, AS Saint-Etienne wishes to clarify that the player, his agent and club officials have declined by mutual agreement all proposals that have been submitted so far.
“Recognising the importance of the challenges facing the ASSE until the end of the season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has always shown a desire to complete the sports project at the expense of financial aspects. The ASSE can only praise the state of mind of their player.”
