AC Milan has signed World Cup-winning defender Cristian Zaccardo from Parma, with two players heading in the opposite direction.
The 31-year-old Zaccardo, who was part of the Italy squad that became world champions in Germany seven years ago, arrives at the San Siro following three and a half seasons with Parma.
"AC Milan can confirm concluding the following deals with Parma," a statement on acmilan.it read. "The permanent acquisition of Cristian Zaccardo, the permanent sale of Djamel Mesbah and the temporary loan of Rodney Strasser."
Bizarrely, Zaccardo became the only player to score against Italy in the group stages of the 2006 World Cup, courtesy of his own goal in a 1-1 draw with the United States.
"We are happy, Zaccardo is a good footballer," Milan vice president Adriano Galliani told the club's official website. "Is there time for more movement in the transfer window? I'm not sure, we have until the 31st."
Club president Silvio Berlusconi appeared to rule out any deals for Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli or Real Madrid forward Kaka by claiming the Rossoneri cannot afford to "play Monopoly."
Galliani added: "What Berlusconi said... I think he's right. But I'm looking at the numbers and who knows if we can't find a little something."
Also Friday, Fiorentina completed the signings of midfielder Rafal Wolski and defender Marvin Compper.
Wolski, 20, leaves Legia Warsaw after five years' service to sign a four-and-a-half year contract in Florence for an undisclosed fee.
Compper, who played over 150 times for Hoffenheim, signed a three-and-a-half year contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The 27-year-old made one appearance for Germany in 2008.
Sampdoria agreed to a co-ownership deal with Torino for striker Gianluca Sansone. Sansone, 25, will spend the rest of the current campaign with Samp before the player's future is discussed at the end of the season.
Sansone scored 20 goals for Serie B side Sassuolo last season but only managed five league starts and one goal for Torino following a summer move north.
Tottenham Hotspur announced that 18-year-old striker Souleymane Coulibaly has joined Serie B side Grosseto on loan until the end of the season.
