Griffiths, Grant in doubt for SydFC

In-form Sydney FC stars Joel Griffiths and Rhyan Grant are in doubt for Saturday's A-League blockbuster against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.

Griffiths, who impressed on debut for the Sky Blues in last week's 7-1 thrashing of Wellington, has a tight hip flexor while Grant has a calf problem.

Both trained away from the rest of the squad for most of Thursday's training session but coach Frank Farina was hopeful they would be fit for the Australia Day clash.

"We're basically going to nurse them through and they'll both definitely be travelling," Farina said on Thursday.

"We've still got two days so hopefully they'll be OK.

"(Griffiths) is not fully match fit at the moment but he knows his body better than anyone so we'll be guided by him on how it is, and certainly won't want to take any risks."

Farina will be hoping to keep the same starting side which impressed in a 7-1 thrashing of the Phoenix, but Yairo Yau and Trent McClenahan are the likely replacements if the injured players fail to recover.
