13 U.S. cities to host Gold Cup games

MIAMI -- Thirteen U.S. cities, from Miami to Seattle, will host Gold Cup games this summer.

The federation for soccer in North America, Central America and the Caribbean announced the sites Wednesday for the July 7-28 event. Matchups have not been determined.

Eight of the stadiums have never taken part in the tournament: Atlanta; Baltimore; Denver; Hartford, Conn.; Houston; Miami; Portland, Ore.; and Salt Lake City.

The tournament returns to five venues in Arlington, Texas; Chicago; Pasadena, Calif.; Harrison, N.J.; and Seattle.

To date, 11 of the 12 participating national teams have qualified for this year's tournament, including Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States. The final spot will be decided on Friday in Costa Rica during the fifth-place match of the 2013 UNCAF Copa Centroamericana between Guatemala and Panama.

The Gold Cup, held every two years, includes the top 12 nations in the CONCACAF region.
