Beckham at Chelsea for son's trial

Free agent David Beckham was at Chelsea's training ground on Tuesday evening - to watch his son Brooklyn play in a trial game with the Under-14s.

Beckham, 37, is currently deciding on the next - and possibly final - move of his career after departing the Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the recent MLS season. But it was the start of his son's career that he was concentrating on this week, as he visited Chelsea's Cobham training centre to watch 13-year-old Brooklyn play in a youth game.

Brooklyn was a member of the Galaxy's academy set-up while his father was playing in the United States, but is now looking for a new team after the family returned to be based in London.

Parents and other players in attendance on Tuesday took to Twitter to express their surprise as former England international David watched in the snow as his son was put through his paces.

One player, Cole Dasilva, said: "David Beckham's son Brooklyn is on trial for my team... David Beckham was watching our training session tonight!! Madness." When asked about Brooklyn's ability, Dasilva added: "He's decent."

Beckham also posed for photographs with some players.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder has previously revealed his uncertainty over whether any of his children will follow in his sporting footsteps.

"They've got a great life set up for them," Beckham told the Times recently. "Obviously our boys and little girl are very lucky. But I think, as a parent, you always worry: 'Have they got the hunger that I had as a kid?'

"I'm as hard on my boys as my dad was. They always ask, 'Did I play well?' I'll say, 'You did alright, could have done better...'"

The Blues are expected to observe Brooklyn on a few more occasions before making a decision about inviting him into their set-up.

The teenager's father, meanwhile, is currently deciding between offers from England, France and the Middle East - among others.
