De Guzman eyes permanent Swans deal

Jonathan de Guzman is hopeful he can turn his loan move at Swansea City into a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The Dutch midfielder's impressive form since joining the Welsh club from Villarreal reached new heights on Saturday as his brace secured a 3-1 win over stoke City at the Liberty Stadium.

In all, the 25-year-old has scored five goals and claimed four assists in his first season in the Premier League as well as helping the Welsh club reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup - and he is hoping to help Michael Laudrup's side continue their progression next season.

"If there is an opportunity I would really love to stay," he said. "I am very happy here. It's a great group, not just the players but the guys around the place, the staff and the fans.

"It's a family club and I really like that. There is something good happening here and I like being part of it."

The former Feyenoord and Real Mallorca midfielder has been capped at Under-21 level by Netherlands but is yet to represent the senior side, something which could change after the national team's assistant manager Danny Blind saw his match-winning performance against Stoke from the stands.

"Yes, I was aware he (Blind) was there," De Guzman said, "that's why I scored the two goals!

"They are keeping an eye on a couple of the Dutch players here and I think I had a decent game. I am very happy with how it went, so we'll see."
