Suarez holds out top-four hope

Luis Suarez believes Liverpool are still capable of finishing in the top four this season.

The Reds currently sit eighth in the Premier League, nine points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and have yet to find any real consistency.

Having climbed into the top half with five wins from their eight league games since the start of December, though, Suarez is hopeful they can build some momentum.

"It's going to be difficult but, in English football, with all its ups and downs, you can never be sure of anything," he told the club's official website. "We're not ideally placed at the moment, but I think that the club is on the right track and the team is playing in the right way and so we should still be hopeful that we can make this happen."

The Uruguay international also said he would happily vacate his central striking position to make way for new signing Daniel Sturridge, who has previously expressed a preference to play in the centre.

Suarez, who has scored 15 goals in 21 games in the Premier League this season, said: "Every player needs to play firstly where he feels most at home, but also where the manager tells him to play.

"If Daniel has a position where he likes to play, I'll do it without any question at all. All the players here are ready to help the team and play in the position where the manager asks us to play."
