Van Dijk granted release from Adelaide Utd
Experienced striker Sergio van Dijk has been granted a release from his Adelaide United contract, allowing him to leave the A-League and join Indonesian club Persib Bandung.
Van Dijk has endured a bitter fallout with club bosses and new coach John Kosmina, resulting in the 30-year-old playing just three of 16 matches this season.
Van Dijk, whose contract was due to expire in April, leaves as one of the A-League's most prolific marksmen, having scored 50 goals during his five-seasons at both Brisbane and Adelaide.
He was the golden boot winner in 2010-11 with the Reds and only Shane Smeltz and Archie Thompson have scored more goals since the competition's inception in 2005.
"Adelaide United would like to thank Sergio for his contribution during his time at the club and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours," the club said in a statement.
