Boateng given United Nations invite

AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been invited to appear at an annual anti-racism event held by the United Nations (UN).

• Blog: Boateng makes a stand

The invitation comes after the 25-year-old led the Rossoneri from the field after being racially abused by opposition fans during a friendly against Pro Patria earlier in January. He was followed by team-mates and club officials, causing the game to be abandoned and earning the player widespread recognition for his actions.

The Ghana international found out on Tuesday that he would not be punished for making a stand - a very real possibility given he did not wait for the match officials to make the decision - and now he will be a guest of honour at the UN event.

A statement published on Milan's official website on Wednesday confirmed: "Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been invited to the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination organized by the United Nations on Thursday, March 21."
