AVB: Blues have no plans

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has criticised his former club Chelsea for having no long-term plans.

• Rafa: Chelsea evolution necessary

Villas-Boas was sacked by the Blues just nine months after being appointed by Roman Abramovich, despite much talk about how he would be given time to change the team.

The Portuguese paid the price as a result of the much-publicised player unrest at Chelsea, and he has now spoken out about the club in more forthright terms than before.

"There are no plans at Chelsea," Villas-Boas is quoted as saying in The Sun. "It's results that rule. There are times in football when it's easier to replace the coach, but when you embrace a project you believe in people.

"There was a commitment from Abramovich and his word was given, yet there was a premature departure."

That does not look likely to be the case at White Hart Lane, with Villas-Boas beginning to make his mark in England.

"We're achieving what we've been asked to achieve," he added. "We're still in the Europa League and third in the Premier League."
