Conte to avoid second charge - reports

Antonio Conte has reportedly been cleared of a second match-fixing charge by the latest investigation into the widespread Calcioscommesse scandal.

Prosecutors in Bari are drawing their inquest to a close and have notified 20 individuals that they are subject to further investigation but it appears the Juventus coach - and Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia - are not among the list of names put forward by the prosecutor in the southern Italian city.

Conte was banned for eight months this past summer - with that sentence halved when one charge against him was dropped - for failing to report a fixed game when he was in charge of Siena in the 2010 season. This new trial is set to focus on Bari matches from the 2008-09 when the 43-year-old was in charge of the club.

Ranocchia played for the Galletti under the coach and he too appears to be in the clear. While both men could still be called in for questioning, former team-mate Jean Francois Gillet and Conte's former assistant Cristian Stellini - banned for two-and-a-half years during the Siena investigation - have been informed they are under investigation.

The other 18 names are almost all exclusively former Bari players with May 2009 matches against Treviso and Salernitana at the centre of the inquest thanks to the testimony of former Bari defenders Andrea Masiello and Vittorio Micolucci who have both been heavily implicated.
