QPR release midfielder Dyer

Queens Park Rangers have released midfielder Kieron Dyer, activating a release clause in the injury-hit midfielder’s contract.

Kieron Dyer: Injury-plagued
Dyer made only four starts for QPR

Dyer, 34, was signed by former Rangers manager Neil Warnock in the summer of 2011, but further injury problems have meant that he made only four starts and four substitute appearances in his time at Loftus Road.

Now QPR boss Harry Redknapp has decided to release Dyer, who began his career at Ipswich Town, and he will leave the Londoners with immediate effect.

In what turned out to be his farewell appearance at Loftus Road, Dyer hit a late equaliser to earn Rangers an FA Cup replay against West Bromwich Albion.

Redknapp told the club’s official website: “I'd like to thank Kieron for his services to QPR.

"If he can stay clear of injuries I'm sure there's clubs out there that will offer him the chance to play football.

"He wasn't in my plans, but I think he’s got something to offer someone and so we wish him all the best."
