Visconte Wanderers-bound in A-League
Midfielder Rocky Visconte has been linked with Western Sydney Wanderers after being released on Tuesday by A-League champions the Brisbane Roar.
The Australian under-23 representative's contract was due to expire at the end of the season but Visconte made the move after being told by Roar coach Mike Mulvey he was not likely to feature in first team action.
He started in seven of his 24 appearances but had not featured in Brisbane's match day squad this season.
Adelaide-born Visconte moved from Scottish club Hearts to the Roar at the start of the 2010/11 season as Brisbane began their golden run.
He was best remembered for his work in earning the penalty from which Erik Paartalu scored the late extra-time equaliser forcing a penalty shootout in their dramatic 2011 A-League final win over Central Coast.
"These decisions are never taken lightly, but we felt it was the right thing to do at this point in time," Mulvey said.
"At this stage of his career, Rocky needs to play first team football and he was not likely to figure in our first team plans."
