Yaya Toure fine after fever

Yaya Toure is set to be fit to play for Ivory Coast in the African Nations Cup despite being hospitalised with a fever.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year was treated in a clinic in Abu Dhabi, where Ivory Coast have been preparing for the tournament in South Africa, after suffering from a virus.

"Yaya had a couple of days off," his brother Kolo told Manchester City's official website. "He is back on his feet now. It was just a short illness, like the flu. Apart from that, everything is going very well at the training camp and we are happy to be here."

And Toure has a fortnight to recover as Ivory Coast do not begin their campaign until January 22, when they face Togo. They also take on Tunisia and Algeria in Group D.

Ivory Coast are among the favourites to win the competition. They were beaten finalists last season, when defeated on penalties by surprise winners Zambia, and have not been African champions since 1992.

City manager Roberto Mancini has resigned himself to being without the midfielder until the middle of February.

The Italian has been without his three Ivorian players - the Toure brothers and Abdul Razak - since the 3-0 victory over Stoke on New Year's Day.
