Four out of contention for Nigeria squad
Nigeria have let four players go from their team camp in Portugal, leaving 27 from which their final 23-man squad for the African Nations Cup will be selected.
Coach Stephen Keshi released injured striker Uche Kalu and Rabiu Ibrahim, of Kilmarnock, and also told Henry Uche and Papa Idris that they were not in contention for the squad for the tournament in South Africa.
Keshi will now formulate his final choice prior to the Wednesday deadline for squads to be named.
He will almost certainly be without Newcastle forward Shola Ameobi as he prepares for group games against defending champions Zambia, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.
