Frank Lampard's agent has confirmed that the midfielder will leave Chelsea at the end of the Premier League season.
Steve Kutner was quoted Sunday by Daily Mirror as saying Lampard was informed by Chelsea that "in no circumstances will he be offered a new contract to stay at the club after the end of this season."
The 34-year-old Lampard scored his seventh goal of the season on Saturday to become Chelsea's joint second all-time leading scorer. But the England international will leave Chelsea after 12 years at the end of the campaign.
Kutner says Lampard "wants to carry on playing football for Chelsea so as to finish the season as successfully as possible for the club that he loves."
English media reports this weekend suggested Chelsea may be interested in keeping the player after all and that Lampard had offered to take a hefty pay cut to stay at the club.
Fans made their feelings clear Saturday as they chanted "sign him up" when Lampard came off the bench in Chelsea's 5-1 FA Cup win at Southampton.
