Jose Enrique out for six weeks

Liverpool were dealt a setback on Friday with news Jose Enrique will be sidelined for six weeks by a hamstring injury.

• Blog: Options aplenty for Liverpool

Enrique limped off during the second half of Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on December 30, and it was instantly feared that he would face a lengthy lay-off.

"Like the doctor staff say I will be out for 6 weeks," Enrique tweeted. "I will try to do my best to be earlier. Thanks for your support. Amazing like always."

Having been overlooked by Brendan Rodgers at the start of the season, Enrique had returned to form in recent weeks, even being used as a left midfielder in a number of games as Rodgers acknowledged the Spaniard's technique.
