Rodgers misses QPR trip through illness

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers did not travel to Loftus Road for the club's 3-0 Premier League win against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday after he was taken ill in London.

Goalkeeper Brad Jones and the Reds' head of performance Glen Driscoll were also sent home by the club's medical team after picking up a bug.

Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe and coach Mike Marsh stepped up to take charge of the match in Rodgers's stead.

Club doctor Zaf Iqbal told Liverpool's official website that the trio were told not to travel to the game to avoid risking other members of the squad becoming infected.

"It was impossible for Brendan, Glen and Brad to attend the game," he said. "They are not fit to be at the match and any contact with the rest if the squad could cause the bug to spread to more of the playing staff."

It is not yet known whether or not any of the trio will recover in time for Liverpool's next game, at home to Sunderland on January 2nd.
