AVB: Bale is priceless for Spurs

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has claimed Gareth Bale is priceless, after the Welshman claimed his first Premier League hat-trick in the 4-0 thumping of Aston Villa.

• Villas-Boas: Bale is up there with the best
• AVB confident of top-four finish
• Blog: World-class striker wanted

Bale impressed against a Villa side that have now conceded 12 goals in their last two games, with Villas-Boas insisting his latest performance won't hasten his exit from White Hart Lane.

Bale has been heavily linked with a £50 million move to Real Madrid in recent months, but Villas-Boas has insisted Tottenhan are not ready to sell him any time soon.

"We recognise he is one of our major assets for sure, but in England there are no release clauses and a player of this dimension has a market value that is not attainable for most other clubs," stated Villas-Boas.

"His skills and talents put Gareth up there with the best and he is improving every day. Also, he is such a young player and has a wonderful personality. As he learns to feel even better in this team then probably his performances will improve.

"His finishing is very accurate and he has been prolific in front of goal. He is enjoying getting into those positions and his left foot is wonderful. He is doing great things."

Villas-Boas refused to get carried away by his side's elevation into the top four of the Premier League, as he turned his attentions to another away game at Sunderland on Saturday.

"Everyone is so tight at the top of the table and our target has to be to open a gap ahead of the rest of the teams sitting near the top," he added.

"Our aim is to take this form to Sunderland, where the Premier League champions just lost. It will be a tough game."
